Niger Delta: Human Rights group commend Elders, Ex-agitators over end to anti-NDDC agitations

A Human Rights Advocacy group known as Niger Delta Coalition for Peace and Defence of Human Rights (NDCPDHR) has commended the Elders,groups and stateholders from the Nine States of the region over the end to agitations and protests against the Management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) led by Proffessor Nelson Branbaifa.

According to the group, though most of the messages of the genuine agitations have been noted and wiil be used as a guide for the implememtations of the development plan for the region, the end to agitations and protest will provide the Professor Branbaifa led NDDC to remain focussed on the work at hand.

The Human Rights Advocacy group known as Niger Delta Coalition for Peace and Defence of Human Rights (NDCPDHR), in a statement issued and signed by Comrade Patrick Nelson,commended the stakeholders for heeding to their calls on the need for support for the NDDC management in order to deliver on the mandate to develop the region.

According to the group,”the Prof.Branbaifa led management of the NDDC is the round peg in a round hole. We want to thank those groups and stakeholders that heeded to the call of reasoning and ascribe to the need to support the call for the confirmation of his appointment and allow them to be focussed on needed develooment.”

“In peaceful and amonious atmosphere, the Prof. Branbaifa stride at hitting the ground running on project execution and prudent financial amanagement will be achieved.”

“It would be reacalled that contrary to their claims on non-payment for the water hyacint clearance contract, the NDDC under Brambaifa is not owing any contractor, rather the payments are being done in batches after due diligence have been conducted on the job done by each contractor”.

“On the Volunteer Surveillance contracts, we want to set  the records  straight that the NDDC is still  processing the relevant documents of all those  that applied for the job to ensure that  they get their due rewards”.

“In the last couple of months of his being at the helm of affairs at the NDDC,  Brambaifa has demonstrated his unalloyed commitment to the mission and vision of the organisation by his words and deeds.  He has taken steps to tackle the perennial problem of water hyacinth across the creeks of the Niger Delta.”
