The Niger Delta Exagitators for Positive Impact (NDEPIP) has commended the foresight of the Federal Government to launch the new cooperative society, noting it was a positive step towards providing social and economic empowerment for the ex-agitators.

Speaking to journalists in Portharcourt, the spokesperson of the group, Comrade Senibo Spencer praised the interim administrator, Major General Barry Ndiomu (rtd) for his dogged approach towards initiating a cooperative society scheme for beneficiaries of the PAP as a long-term empowerment approach instead of their reliance on monthly stipends, rather these ex-agitators are adequately trained and empowered to become productive members of society and contribute their quota towards the development of the region and the country at large.

Comrade Senibo further described General Ndiomu as a visionary leader who can see beyond the present and work towards a better future for beneficiaries of the programme by maximizing the potential of the program and ensuring proper reintegration of former agitators.

While commending Ndiomu for his efforts at deepening peace and stability in the Niger Delta, Senibo also encouraged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the new cooperative scheme aimed at making them self-reliant and self-sufficient urging them to
maximize the potential of the scheme to ensure that the ex-agitators have a better means of livelihood

The group also emphasized the need for the government to continue to prioritize development and empowerment programs for the Niger Delta region, as it will help to reduce the rate of unemployment and youth restiveness in the region and to ensure proper monitoring and implementation of the cooperative scheme to guarantee the success of the initiative.
