Niger Delta: “Confirmation of Branbaifa as substantive MD will promote peace, development”- Chief Kpodoh

Chief Perekeme Kpodoh, the former Security Adviser to the Bayelsa State Government, has described as “misinformed” and “enemies of the region” the politicians involved in the series of sponsored protests against the acting managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) led by Professor Nelson Branbaifa.

Chief Perekeme Kpodoh, pointed out that despite the plots and counter plots by some few disgruntled politicians with selfish agenda, the NDDC performance in the area of sustained consultations with stakeholders, contracts payment, projects completion without political consideration showed that the confirmation of Professor Nelson Branbaifa as substantive managing Director will ensure even development and peace in the region. 

Chief Perekeme Kpodoh, who is a Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) from Sagbama Local Government Area told newsmen in Yenagoa, urged President Muhammad Buhari to disregard the series of sponsored anti-Branbaifa protest,” they are being done by the enemies of your administration that does not want your sincere development plan to be carried out by the NDDC in the region. “

Kpodoh noted that the NDDC Acting Managing Director is committed to work in line with Mr president anti corruption stance  in order to usher in new level of massive infrastructural and  human capital development centred on  youth and rural women empowerment programs across the Niger Delta.

Kpodoh noted that though the appointment of the NDDC Board and Management is solely rested on the powers of Mr President and he has the power to retain or reappoint the present Board as clearly stated by the Act that established the Commission, “the widely accepted position from stakeholders and youths of the region favours the present leadership of the NDDC led by Professor Branbaifa. “

 “It is on record that, barely three months after the Acting Managing Director came on board, he was able to settle all the outstanding debts which was incurred by the previous administration and hindered the development in the region as most project were either stopped and abandoned.He has ensured continuity in project execution and completion.”

“I sincerely applaud the Acting Managing Director for the approval and payment of the water hyacinth jobs and for approving the payment of NDDC volunteer youth empowerment programme which the previous administration failed to implement”.

“This singular action of the Acting NDC Managing Director also elicited wide jubilation across the entire Niger Delta region more so with zeal of the Commission to  partner with international organizations in other usher massive development that will turn around the face of the region in terms of development” .

Chief Perekeme Kpodoh commended President Muhammad Buhari for his decision to appoint Professor Branbaifa, ” the leaders of the region have seen a reflection of your administration in the he Acting Managing Director.The NDDC adminisration has brought sanity and transparency to the region by operating an open door policy to accommodate all sons and daughters of the Niger Delta without any bias towards the implementation and  execution of projects by the NDDC.
