The Niger Delta Progressive Youth Leadership Foundation (NDPYLF) has made an urgent appeal to Ijaw Leaders and Fathers of the Niger Delta region to intervene in the arrest and continual detention of a Journalist and C.E.O of NAIJA LIVE TV, Saint Mienpamo Onitsha, and the suspension of Etolor Peter Papems’ Masters (M.Sc) scholarship, both by the authorities of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP.

In an open letter to all Ijaw Leaders, signed by the Convenor of the group, Doctor Kegbe, the group explained that the suspension of Etolor Peter Papems’ Masters (M.Sc) scholarship and the unlawful arrest of Saint Mienpamo Onitsha because they feel not comfortable with some policies of PAP under Major (Gen.) Barry Tariye Ndiomu is not justifiable.

The group further called on the leadership of The Ijaw National Congress (INC), Ijaw Youth council (IYC), Ijaw fathers including Pa E.K Clark, Joseph Eva and other notable leaders to facilitate the reinstatement of Peter Etolor Papems scholarship and the release of Saint Mienpamo Onitsha who is currently in detention for a matter that was not a capital crime.

The Niger Delta Progressive Youth Leadership Foundation equally seek for a swift intervention in resolving the issues bothering the two Niger Delta sons in order to “prevent a spark” from youths in the region.

“Urgent Appeal for Intervention in the unjustifiable arrest of Saint Mienpamo, the CEO of NAIJA LIVE TV Media and withdrawal of scholarship of Etolor Peter Papem’s M.Sc by the authorities of the Presidential Amnesty Programme led by Maj. Gen. Barry Ndiomu rtd.

“Our dear ijaw leaders and fathers of our Niger Delta region, we hope this letter finds you in good health.

“The purpose of writing to you today is to bring to your attention a matter of great concern that demands urgent intervention and assistance as It has come to our notice that Etolor Peter Papems, a dedicated and committed individual from the Niger delta region is encountering an unsettling injustice through the abrupt suspension of his M.Sc scholarship and Unjust arrest of Saint Mienpamo, a journalist from Sourthern Ijaw Bayelsa state, all because they frown at the policies of Major Gen.Barry Ndiomu (rtd) for suspending educational scholarship earlier.

“This act has caused significant distress not only to the likes of Etolor Peter Papems himself, but also to those who recognize and appreciate his unwavering dedication and contributions so far before the appointment of the present lnterim Administrator in the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

“We firmly believe that, Papems’ little commitment and service to the people of Niger Delta merits the utmost respect and consideration, especially in matters pertaining to educational advancement. Therefore, we kindly request your immediate attention and support in addressing this issue while we seek and urge for a fair and just resolution.

“It is our fervent prayer that, through your esteemed influences and intervention all this will be settle amicably as we trust in your ability to facilitate a just and equitable resolution that upholds the principles of fairness and integrity.

“We firmly believe that your guidance and support can play a pivotal role in rectifying this unfortunate situation in reinstating the opportunities rightfully deserved by Peter Etolor Papems and immediately facilitating the release of Saint Mienpamo Onitsha who is currently in Kuje jail for a matter that was not a capital crime. Therefore as fathers in our dear region, Your assistance will not only serve as an act of fairness, but will also contribute to maintaining the integrity of educational commitments and opportunities within our community and the entire Niger Delta at large.

“It is ideal, for us to call on the wisdom and intervention of our elders to curb this situation quickly in order to avoid youths in the Niger Delta region in taking a stance to fight this grievous act, the last thing we want to do at this point is to dare underestimate the power of the collective voices in the Niger Delta region.

“We are therefore calling on the leadership of INC, IYC and our fathers in the struggle such as Pa. EK Clark, Joseph Eva and other notable leaders to call a good measure to this issue in other to prevent a spark that might soon lit up into a drenching fire if not quenched now.

“Thank you for your time and understanding. We sincerely hope to receive your support in this time of urgency,” the letter read.
