United States based Non – Governmental Organization, Mkpat Abasi Group USA, has donated school desks to St. Christopher’s Catholic Primary School, Ikot Abasi Akpan in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, South – South Nigeria.
Other items also donated to the school included; 7 chairs and 7 tables respectively.
A member of Mkpat Abasi Group, Dr. Joseph P. Akpanikat, who spoke through Hon. Rose Henry Usen said, the items were donated in line with the organisation’s commitment to promote educational advancement of indigenes of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency in Nigeria.
He explained that, the gesture would go a long way to complement the State Government’s strife to provide free, fair and affordable education to the locals.
According to him, Mkpat Abasi Group USA, has partnered the Akwa Ibom State Government to enhance the well-being of her citizenry through the provision of free medical outreach programmes, where thousands of the poorest of the poor benefited from surgeries, optical services and drugs amongst others.
Dr. Akpanikat however noted that, the group was moved by the plights of the pupils, who sat on the bare floor to receive educational instructions, a situation he described as inimical to the growth of humanity and the society.
While expressing the organisation’s commitment towards eradication of poverty and educational backwardness, pledged to do more to the Federal Constituency to advance literacy and socialization.
The School Management Board represented by Pastor Alphonsus Udoh was elated and expressed joy and satisfaction to Mkpat Abasi Group for finding the school worthy for the donation.
Ikot Abasi Akpan Village Council was not left out in pouring encomiums on the leadership of the association.
The Village Head, Eteidung Michael G. Udoidem thanked the group for a job well done and prayed God to bless and reward them abundantly.
