The Samuel Ogbuku Support (SOS) Media Group, has called on political actors, especially from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to stop politicizing the happenings in Opu-Nembe in Nembe LGA of Bayelsa state.

In a Press Statement titled “Nembe – Bassambiri killings, leave Chief Timipre sylva out,” the group in strong terms, condemned dragging Sylva’s name into the incident by individuals who want to get cheap political recognition, noting that the accusations leveled against the Former Minister of Petroleum Resources are unfounded and baseless.

While calling on the security agencies to investigate the matter and bring the culprits to book, the NDDC DG Support Media group hinted on the need to focus on finding solutions to the problem at hand rather than giving it a political colouration.

“There has been a recent outcry over the killing at Opu Nembe in Nembe LGA of Bayelsa State, with some individuals calling out Chief Timipre Sylva, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. However, it is pertinent to note that these accusations are baseless and unfounded.

“H.E Sylva has been a man of peace, preaching non-violence and promoting peaceful coexistence among all Bayelsans. He has constantly advocated for a violence-free election and has continued to urge his supporters to shun any form of violence or thuggery.

“It is therefore unfair and unwise for some mischievous individuals believed to be members of the PDP to drag Sylva’s name into this terrible incident, solely for cheap recognition and political relevance. This is a grave injustice and one that must be condemned by all well-meaning Nigerians.

“We, the SOS Media crew therefore, call on the security agencies to thoroughly investigate this matter and bring the culprits to book. The sanctity of human life must always be respected and protected, and those found guilty of violating this fundamental right must face the full wrath of the law.

“In conclusion, let us desist from politicizing sensitive issues such as this and focus on finding solutions to the problem at hand. Our common humanity should always take precedence over political affiliations or interests,” the statement read.
