Late Lawmaker’s Wife Abbey of PDP wins Obudu State Constituency by-election

Former member representing Obudu State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Late Stephen Ukpukpen’s wife, Mrs. Abbey Ukpukpen wins Obudu State Constituency by-election.

Mrs. Ukpukpen, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate emerged winner with 12,712 votes. Although, Abbey could not vote in the process, Naija Live Tv learnt.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Bendebel Ishamali polled 4,345 votes to emerge runner up while Mr. Awafung Clement of the Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN) came third with 132 votes with Mr. Agwupuye John of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) scored the least votes, having polled 114.

The returning officer, Dr. Anthony Enya while announcing the results said 4,667 people were disenfranchised due to hijacking of materials.

Dr. Enya, who is the chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, University of Calabar branch then proceeded to announce Mrs. Abbey Ukpukpen winner having met the criteria to that effect.
