The Chairman of the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission, BYSIEC, Chief Perekeme Bertola has resigned his position.
His resignation was confirmed by our Yenagoa correspondent through phone this morning, the former electoral chief said his decision to resign is on personal grounds without any form of pressure from any quarters.
Asked if this action may not affect the August 10th, 2019 Bayelsa State Local Government Council Elections, Bertola said, everything is in proper position for his successor to continue with, and that his resignation would have no negative effect on the exercise.
He however used the medium to thank Gov. Seriake Dickson for believing in him in given him the opportunity to serve the state in that capacity as Chairman of BYSIEC.
Meantime, the governor is yet to make any press statement on the matter.
