There is rising apprehension again yesterday in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital over the sudden disappearance of the State Security outfit Doo Akpor from streets of the State.
While the State Government officials including the Special Adviser on Security, Chief Bona Spirrow-Jack kept mum to all inquiries about the sudden withdrawal.
Political observers claimed that the sudden disappearance of the patrol vehicles of Doo Akpor from the streets may not be unconnected with the controversy between the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) over planned disbandment of the Doo-Akpor.
A senior personnel of Doo Akpor, who pleaded anonymity, said the withdrawal is routine and done to effect repairs to some numbers of patrol vans in their pool.
Confirming the development, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Milan, expressed concern over the sudden disappearance of the security outfit, Doo Akpor.
Police Commissioner Joseph Mukan ,said though he is not in support of the removal of Doo Akpor from the streets, “they are assisting with security.”
He however denied that he was not aware of the withdrawal of the security outfit and all efforts to find out from the officials of the State Government but met brick wall of silence.
He said “they are independent and report to State Government directly. Though they are commanded by a Senior Police officer. They don’t take police command into consideration.”
“When we noticed the withdrawal ,but nobody is coming with clear reason when we are shouting crime, crime, crime. I got across to the SA, security and Chief of Staff, there was no clear reason. “
