INEC okays Abiodun, Omo-Agege, Oborevwori, Sani, Nwifuru, Odii for gov race

•…Adebutu’s name missing in Ogun, LP has no candidate

Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege is among the governorship candidates cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the March 11 2022 election.

Lists of the candidates, their deputies, and others for the House of Assembly were as of 10 pm yesterday posted in eight states by INEC offices.

NAIJA LIVE TV gathered INEC national office was still battling to upload the over 900-page lists of the 36 states of the federation on its portal as of press time.

The eight states so far in the public domain are Ogun, Delta, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Kaduna, Jigawa, and Benue.

Ogun has 12 governorship candidates, including All Progress Congress (APC) incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun, okayed for the race.

But missing on the list are the names of Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his running mate Adekunle Akinlabi. Labour Party(PDP) has no candidates.

Apart from the APC, other parties that had the names of their candidates published include the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Social Democratic Congress (SDP), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), National Rescue Movement (NRM), People’s Redemption Party (PRP), African Democratic Party (ADP) and Allied People’s Movement (APM). .

In Delta, other major candidates that would be competing against Omo-Agege are the state House of Assembly Speaker Sheriff Oborevwori of the PDP; Great Ogboru of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA), and Kenneth Gbagi of the Social Democratic Party.

Oborevwori’s counterpart in Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru of the APC, and Ifeanyi Odii of the PDP are among the 13 cleared.

Among the others in the race are APGA’s Ben Odoh, LP’s Edward Nkwegu, Young Progressives Party’s Opoke Sunday, NRM’s Usulor Anthony, and AA’s Chukwuma Nwandugo.

Abia State has 18 governorship candidates cleared by the electoral umpire. They include APC’s Ikechi Emenike, PDP’s Eleazar Ikonne, LP’s Alex Otti, YPP’s Enyinnaya Nwafor, and ADC’s Bishop Onuoha.
