“Good afternoon Gentlemen of the press,
My honorable executive members of orlu zone sons and daughters here present, Representatives of our communities across the senatorial district,
My very own brothers and sisters,

COMR. ODINAKA JNR

It is with a heart filled with joy, happiness and compassion for my people that I stand before you this afternoon to address you on the state of affairs of our great zone. Permit me to quickly introduce this group before I proceed. The group Orlu zone sons and Daughter was form in 2018 when some of us discovered that there is need to unite our sibling both at home and Diaspora, we started by taking advantage of the 21st century cyber space to connect our brothers and sisters both home and abroad, at the end of 2018 the group on facebook had about 20,000 members and as time goes on the news began to spread like wide fire and today the group over 65,000 members on facebook. There was need to get closer so we moved to whatsapp and now we have 3 active platforms with 257 members each, at the end of 2018, we came together to organize our first get together and this is the second one that was organized on the 2nd day of January 2020. God have been good to us and we continue to give glory to His mighty name.
Orlu Zone is one of the 3 senatorial districts of Imo state and holds the heart of the state as it comprises of one third of the total population of the state. The zone have been growing rapidly over the years with her youths moving with the speed of light the meet of the 21st century standard of life. The people of the Zone have been known for peace and charity. Today we are here because we still believe that we owe future generation a responsibility to pass on the peace to them. It is on this note that I would like to appeal to all elected officers in the Zone mostly the State Governor, H. E. Gov. Emeka Ihedioha, our very own Father H. E. Irona the deputy governor of Imo state and a son of Orlu zone and H.E Sen. Rochas Owelle Okorocha the Senator representing Orlu Zone in the upper chambers, All members house of Representatives from Orlu zone, all members Imo state house of Assembly from Orlu Zone and all Local government Chairmen from the Zone, to as a matter of urgency consider carry the youths of the zone along as this is the only path that can assure a successful transition of peace, security, growth and development in the zone.

The Zone has over 300,000 graduates from different works of life that have studied from different instructions of higher learning with only less than 10% of this population meaningfully employed. Others are either unemployed, underemployed or have ventured into to private businesses just to sustain their families that have invested resources to see them through school. We are calling on the government at all levels to put in place, policies that will enable these remaining 90% to ensure the benefit of their education by creating employment opportunities and business friendly environment to enable those in business do more. We are also appeal this those at the federal level Mostly Our Father and Brother H.E Sen. R. O. Okorocha and the minister representing Imo state in the federal executive council to bring home foreign and local Investors to create more opportunities back home for our youth. Orlu zone is Home to different natural resources like Crude oil, Oil palm among others. Industrialization of the zone would light up Imo state in particular and South East in general.

On Education, we also want to appeal to the state governor, H. E. Gov. Emeka Ihedioha to consider looking into the issues of Imo state bursary and ensure that those who are truly in need of these assistances gets it at the time they are in the institutions of study. Personally while I was in school, I applied severally for state bursary but never got it. I’m hoping that the story would change under our listening governor. Sir still on the education issue, the free and compulsory primary and secondary education should be made compulsory in line with chapter IV of the 1999 constitution as amended. I’m suggesting that the state government to put in place EDU-MARSHAL to help get these children back to school and ensure that they get quality education, as there is a popular saying that If you educate a child you save a nation, we are hoping the state government would look into this aspect.

Lastly, We want to call the attention of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) to look into the zone to ensure that there is adequate supply of telecommunication networks, as this is the major means of passing information in this 21st century, Most villages in the Zone are still suffering from poor reception of telecommunication network and this has slowed down development in the region. We are hoping for a better a more fruitful decade ahead.

Thanks and God Bless You
