Ahead of the November governoship elections in Imo state, Governor Hope Uzodimma, has replaced his deputy, Placid Njoku, with a female, Barr. Nnedinma Ekomaru, as his running mate.

This is coming after women groups in the state called on the governor, Hope Uzodimma, to pick a woman as his running mate in the forthcoming elections.

Uzodimma had submitted the name of Engr. Ralph Nwosu, the Commissioner for Works as the placeholder, which left room for lobbying and speculations for the slot.

An aide of the Governor, who pleaded anonymity Leadership that Barr. Ekomaru’s name has been formally submitted to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja as Uzodimma’s running mate.

Barr. Nnedinma Ekomaru is married to a senior lawyer, Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN), a one time governorship aspirant who attempted to govern the state under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but loosed out in the primaries.

Mrs Ekomaru, who hails from Mbaitoli local government area of the State, has practiced law for over 20 years and had not been a known politician.
