A leading aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Bayelsa State, Chief David Lyon, has said that he will not steal in his administration but he would develop the state.

David Lyon said this on Friday in Yenagoa, while addressing the David Lyon Support Group, a campaign/mobilization group for his election bid.

While speaking with party faithfuls from the 8 local government areas in the state, Mr Lyon lamented the level of insecurity in the state. He said his administration would tackle insecurity because “if that is done, business would thrive.”

“Stand for APC,” he urged the party’s supporters.

Also speaking, Former Governor of Bayelsa State and Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, expressed optimism of the party’s victory in the Nov, 16 Governorship election. He stated that a David Lyon led government would open a new chapter of development in the state.

“This election that is coming, ‘We will win.” Anybody who thinks otherwise is joking,” he said.

He urged the party supporters to go out en masse in their various wards for the primary on Saturday. He also urged them to conduct themselves peacefully and ensure that Mr Lyon emerges flag-bearer of the party.

Chairman of the Chief David Lyon Support Group, Mr Eddy Orubo in his welcome address described David Lyon as “a man of integrity, a philanthropist, charismatic, and a good manager of resources.” He said the support group would work tirelessly to make sure he emerges candidate of the APC.

“Part of what we have done is to ensure that in the 8 LGAs, we have 8 coordinators, the next thing we have done is that at the Constituency level, we also have Constituency coordinators. And at the ward level, we have ward coordinators, which covers men and women. At the ward level we have a 105 wards. We also have 100 women who are covering leadership at the women level.”

Mr Orubo said the Support Group has ensured that the name, David Lyon, becomes a household name due to the group’s rigorous campaign since his emergence in the governorship race.

Dignitaries at the event include Hon. Israel Sunny-Goli, lawmaker representing Nembe/Brass Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Timi Agala-Omubo, Member, representing Brass constituency 11 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Theodore A. Allison, the Bayelsa State Representative on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dame Julie Okah-Donli, Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP), Barr Festus Daumiebi Sunday, Senatorial candidate for Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, Hon. Mrs. Gloria Izonfuo, federal commissioner National population commission, Silva Opuala-Charles, former Commissioner for Finance and Budget, amongst others.

The Bayelsa State APC governorship primary is scheduled to hold on Saturday.

The party National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, in a statement on Wednesday, announced the adoption of direct primary for the state.
