Foremost Ijaw Leader, Chief Edwin Clark has endorsed the aspiration of Ambassador Godknows Boladei Igali for the governorship slot of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming November Sixteenth poll.

Clark made this endorsement at his Abuja residence when Ambassador Igali and his campaign team paid the elder statesman an official visit to formerly inform him of his desire to contest for the choice seat.

Describing Igali as one of the rare breeds of the Ijaw ethnic nationality due to his pedigree of years of service as a former Federal Permanent Secretary and a Diplomat, Clark averred that he has no better option than to support Igali for the post as he possesses qualities that endear him to the people of Bayelsa State and the Ijaw nation at large.

”I have known Igali for Years. I believe he will do well as governor of Bayelsa State. I urge the party delegates and other party stalwarts to throw their weight behind Igali as he is a sure bet for good governance and advancement of the Ijaw cause and development of the only homogenous Ijaw state in the federation,” he stated.

Earlier, Ambassador Igali flanked by members of his campaign team, eulogised the leadership qualities of the former Information Minister of the nation, E.K. Clark and expressed confidence in his ability to give direction to the ijaw nation and for always standing up for the Ijaw cause.

Highpoint of the visit was the putting on of the campaign paraphernalia symbolised by the fez cap with the bold inscription of “Project Bayelsa” that was won on the head of the foremost Ijaw leader and ethnic rights advocate, Chief E.K. Clark.

A belated birthday celebration was also marked by the Igali Campaign Organisation in honour of Clark at his Abuja residence.

In similar vein, Ambassador Igali has assured the people of Bayelsa state of his commitment to serve and give uninterrupted power supply, good road networks, potable water and massive infrastructural development to the state if voted into power as governor of the oil-rich state.

Igali made this pronouncement at a press conference in Abuja shortly after picking the expression of interest and nomination forms for the position of governor at the Wadata House, headquarters of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Igali told the press that going by his antecedents, as a former Federal Permanent Secretary of the Ministries of Water Resources and later Power, he would use his wealth of experience to attract investors in these sectors to give Bayelsa State an alternative source of revenue other than waiting for monthly FAAC allocations.

He appreciated the roles played by past and present governors of the state in the areas of infrastructure as he stated that he is only aspiring for the choice seat so as to continue from where others have stopped.

He described government as a continuum and that if everyone does his bit that is how Bayelsa can achieve its developmental strides of being able to compete favourably amongst the comity of states.

Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory was on a stand still as the Igali campaign organization stormed Abuja amidst throng of mammoth crowd of supporters, blaring praise chants eulogising the leadership strides of Dr. Godknows Boladei Igali as the man to beat in the forthcoming Bayelsa gubernatorial race with PDP Primaries fixed for first week of September 2019.
