Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has responded to the backlash he received from Nigerians over his own patronage of made-in-Nigeria shoes.

In his response, Reno Omokri took to his X handle on Saturday, April 13. stating that he bought the shoes from Aba just to promote the Aba shoe industry.

He wrote: “You can just imagine what a supposedly national media is writing! Shoes that I bought from Aba just to promote the Aba shoe industry. It is the people from there that are mocking the shoes. You guys were all witness to the fact that two weeks ago, I even gave out ₦500,000 to a random winner chosen by the actor, Wale Ojo, who coincidentally happens to be from the Southeast, on the condition that he must use the money to buy made-in-Nigeria brands, including Aba shoes. Now, when I stop wearing items from the Southeast as part of my buy Nigerian campaign, these same peoples, whom I was trying to promote, will say I hate them.

“Anyway, I thank them for letting me know that the shoes are not good. And I thank Nura Bashir for helping me get shoes from Kano, which I will be promoting henceforth for my #GrowNairaBuyNaija campaign.”
