Gov. Dickson Appoints Remember Ogbe as acting Chairman of BYSIEC

The Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson has replaced Mr Ball Oyarede as the Chairman of Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC),with another member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief  Remember Ogbe who will serve as Acting Chairman of the Commission.

Mr Oyarede was appointed as chairman, Following the resignation of Dr Bertola Perekeme,over alleged threat to his life and immediate family.

Reactions trailed the hasty screening and confirmation of Ball Oyarede, who was a serving member of the Bayelsa State  Assembly, whose tenure ended on June 6, 2019.

Mr Perekeme Bertola is now a candidate for Ekeremor Local Government Chairmanship seat under the platform of the PDP.

Until his appointment as Acting Chairman BYSIEC, on Tuesday, Remember Ogbe was a former Executive Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

He was also a Senatorial aspirant of the PDP in the 2019 National Assembly election.

The Bayelsa council elections was slated for July 27, and postponed to August 10, with Governor Dickson pledging that the polls would be free, fair and credible, but over 60 political parties in the state have threatened to boycott the council poll following the controversy that surrounded the appointment of the immediate past Chairman of BYSIEC.
