The Federal Government has deported 10 Egyptians, seven Sri-Lankans and an Indians over various criminal and immigration offences.

While the Egyptians were found to have violated the conditions for their entry, the seven Sri-Lankans, who were jailed for petroleum product-related offences after serving their jail terms, were ordered by the court to be deported to their country.

A statement in Abuja on Friday by the Nigeria Immigration Service spokesman, DCI Sunday James, said the Minister of Interior in the exercise of the powers vested on him in section 45 (2), section 46 (1), and section 47 (1) of the Immigration Act 2015, also signed the deportation order of one Ali Taher to France and one Kasinathan Ramasamy to India.

They were found to be involved in activities violating the conditions of their entry into Nigeria.

The statement titled, ‘NIS deports foreign nationals,’ said Taher was found to be engaged in activities capable of undermining the security of a friendly neighbouring country to Nigeria in Maiduguri, Borno State, while Ramasamy was found working as a shop attendant in Kano.

It read, “In view of the resumption of international flights, the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, has directed that all migrants in Nigeria should comply fully with the laws guiding their residence and entry.

“The public is advised to note that all special exemptions granted to migrants due to COVID-19 have elapsed.

Meanwhile, the Chinese government has announced that foreign nationals holding valid Chinese residence permits for work, personal matters and reunion are allowed to enter China with no need for applying for new visas.
