A Former Commissioner for Enviroment in Bayelsa State , Barr. Inuro Wils and nine others that emerged as the State and National Assembly candidates of the Labour Party (LP)  were yesterday handed party flags with a charge to embark on a violence free campaign and ensure victory during the elections. 

Among the other candidates of the Labour Party that received the party flag in Yenagoa, the State capital include Mr. Festus Owi for the House of Representative (Nembe/Brass), Barr. Ikpaikpai Oruopadei (Yenagoa constituency 2), Hon. Asari Kerry Timipere (Southern Ijaw constituency 1), Ombu Alike Baiyam snr(Ogbia constituency 2) and Precious Okala (Ogbia constituency 3)

Former Commissioner Inuro Wills, who is the candidate of the party for the Bayelsa East Senatorial election, noted that despite the wrong perception from other political parties in the state,  the Labour Party is prepared and set to change the narratives in the state with election Victories. 

He said the party exist in the state with numerous followers because the party is out to improve the quality of lief for the people and assist in reducing poverty, poor Security and deplorable level of development. 

Earlier in his speech, the State Chairman of the Labour Party, Comrade Ebiowe Olomu, said the decision by the party to hand over the flag to candidates is an indication that they can embark on election campaign devoid of violence and accrimonies with other political parties in the state.

Comrade Olomu said the party is out to make a mark during the 2019 elections despite the few candidates put forward by the party, “sometimes they may undermine the numbers of our candidates, we will emerge successful and victorious in 2019 because we always go for the beat candidates.”

“We have settled for candidates that will excel. Labour Party is the party to deliver the people of the State from the shackles of wrong and deceitfully representation  at the State and National Assembly. We are out to rescue the people of Bayelsa.”

Olomu however cautioned the candidates and supporters of the party not to be drawn into the violent traits of some of the other political parties during election, ” despite the fact that we have quality candidates, there is the need to campaign. But embark on a violence free campaign. “
