…More than 500 students receives back-to-school kits and scholarships to university level

More than five hundred school children in Akwa-lbom state have received free back-to-school kits containing exercise books, school sandals, writing materials, food and water flasks and other basic school items to equip them for the next school term. Some students also received full scholarships up to university level.

The program was initiated by DUDU FOUNDATION, a non-governmental organization who also gave a total of 3.5million (three million five hundred thousand naira) to more than one hundred small and medium scale business owners as grants with each receiving fifty thousand naira to expand their businesses.

Lady Edu Offong, the founder of Dudu foundation, while speaking during the event held in Uyo the Akwa-lbom state capital, said the initiative is her little way to encourage the less privileged in the society.

“I feel not very comfortable wearing all the glamour and then sometimes I come here, l see children that are meant to be in school hawking on the streets. It breaks my heart and I feel very sad. I just do this to tell other people that this things are possible. This things we feel are not possible are very possible,” she added.
