The need for political leaders to exercise restraint in the wake of crass nepotism, sleaziness and other untoward vices plaguing the polity has been stressed.

The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Gentle Emelah, stated this caution at the public presentation of a book titled, “DIRTY BROOMS”, authored by one of Bayelsa’s prolific writers, Mr. Amatare Mozimo.

The Commissioner who performed the book unveiling, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Comrade Walton Liverpool, lauded the efforts of the author for putting his thoughts in a book, disclosed that while writing is a difficult task, people should take to writing and reading as no human civilization can advance without this crucial endeavour.

On his own capacity, Comrade Liverpool charged political players to heed the poet-author in “DIRTY BROOMS”, so as to embrace restraint in their excesses.

Book reviewer, Dr. Akpoebi Adesi, who doubled as Registrar of Bayelsa Medical University, and ANA BAyelsa Chairman, described the book, “DIRTY BROOMS”, as epoch for being able to deploy the use of satire in portraying socio-political realities with panache and candour.

In their separate goodwill remarks, the Special Adviser on Political Matters, Chief Collins Cocodia (represented by Mr. John Appah), Hon. Wisdom Fafi (represented by Mr. Kakain) expressed regrets that political players nationally have not really heeded the clarion call for restraint by literary writers, hence the quagmire being experienced on the global scene.

In his speech, author of the book, Dirty Brooms, Mr. Amatare Mozimo, appreciated all who attended inspite of the clash of the program with that of the governor’s reception honour by his kinsmen in his country home, in Sampou.

Mozimo stated that he motivated to pen down his thoughts in poetry (for the past decade) as the genre afforded him the desired complexity to conceal details as well as transform the mindset of prospective readers.

The book launch featured poetry recitations from the author’s collection, cutting of the book cake, a toast to the writer as well as cultural and spoken word renditions by ANA members.

Other dignitaries who sent in words of solidarity to the author included the member Representing Sagbama/ Ekeremor Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon.
