The Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC), South-South has conferred the award of Ambassador of Peace on the Coordinator of Starz Initiative, Mrs. Bekeowei Eyemiere Accrah and 52 other prominent religious leaders, Advocacy groups and Non-Governmental organization for their roles in promoting peaceful co-existence and campaign against violence in Bayelsa State.
Other recipient of the Ambassador of Peace award include the Nigerian Bar Association (Sagbama Branch) led by Ebinyu George Aderigha Esq, the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) led by its Chairperson, Deme Pamosoo, Esq, the Do Foundation, International, the National Agency for the Prohibition of trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) led by the State Commander, Mrs, Abieyuwa Ikhidero among others.
Also conferred with Ambassador of Peace award are the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, High Chief Collins Cocodia and
the Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government, Hon. Uroupaye Nimizuoa.
Also inaugurated by the Interfaith Mediation Centre was the Joint State Coordinators of the Conflict Mitigation & Management Regional Council/Community Peace observers.
The state Coordinators include Apostle Monty Abraham, Ahmed Ibrahim Ramadam, Dise Sheila Ogbise Esq, His Highness Abasi Roosvelt Victor and Comrade Fortune Alfred.
Commenting on the award, Mrs. Bekeowei Eyemiere Accrah, commended the Interfaith Mediation Centre for founding her and her advocacy group, the Starrz Safety Initiative, worthy of the award and described the award as a challenge to her and members of her advocacy group from the era of Amazing Amazon to the Starzz Safety Initiative.
Mrs. Bekeowei Eyemiere Accrah described peace as key to development and security, urging stakeholders to ensure that peace is brought
to bear in the state and the country in order to encourage development.
She thanked members of her group, the Chairman of GRIT,Bayelsa State, Dise Ogbise Esq, her husband, Family and her twin sister for the encouragement and support over the years.
