The Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital on Monday, disqualified the All Progressives Party (APC) Governorship candidate for March 2023 election and ordered that a fresh governorship primary be conducted within 14 days.

Delivering judgment on Monday, November 14, 2022, the presiding judge, Justice Agatha Okeke, also disqualified the governorship candidate of the party, Akanimo Udofia, from participating in the primary, saying that he was not a member of the APC in the state.

The court also gave an order to the Independent National Electoral Commissioin (INEC) not to recognise him (Akan Udofia) nor accept him as candidate according to section 77 sub-section 3 of the Electoral Act.

However, Bong Akan Udofia in a statement issued by his campaign organization on Monday November 14, 2022 said, “I am assuring you all that, I will be on the ballot as Akwa Ibom APC Governorship flag bearer”.
