…says the ‘Diri’s Prosperity Government’ is unfocused

Timipre Sylva, a former minister of state for petroleum and candidate for governor of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the November 11 governorship election in Bayelsa, has declared that if elected, Bayelsa will prioritize and capitalize on the growth of a knowledge-based economy to drive economic growth.

Sylva declared this during an interactive session with journalists in Yenagoa, adding that he began the process by training more than 200 Bayelsans in ICT and other areas in China, Russia, and other countries during his first tenure as governor.

The APC chieftain promises to invest in a technology-based economy if re-elected in November 2023.

Sylva noted that knowledge-driven nations have successfully integrated conventional strategies and utilised ICTs to mass produce and “commodify” knowledge, information, solutions, innovative products, and even their cultures for sale to the outside world.

He is impressed with those who have trained abroad during his tenure as governor, believing that Bayelsa will become a technology investment destination in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Furthermore, Sylva claims that the incumbent governor, Douye Diri, and his prosperity administration lack focus and leadership mastery in governance.

He suggested that the ‘Prosperity government’ relies on federal funding/Allocation to carry out projects and cannot even improve the internally generated revenue.

Sylva said: “A prospering government and economy will grow above paying minimum wage and put in modalities to attract foreign investments, but in this case, it shows they don’t even know what they are doing in their government.”

Sylva has called on Bayelsans to rally behind and support the APC in the upcoming elections so that the positive plans he has for Bayelsans can be realized.
