ADVERT RATE

The Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission, (BYSIEC), has shifted the date for Local Government Council Elections by two weeks.

By this shift, the elections,  which were initially scheduled for July 27th will now hold on August 10th this year.

A statement by the Commission’s Chairman, Dr. Bertola Perekeme says the adjustment was due to plea from political parties through the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC as well as INEC’s adjustment of the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Timetable by two weeks.

The Commission therefore calls on all political parties to collect the adjusted election Time-table at its Secretariat in Yenagoa.

Going by the adjusted Time-table, party primaries are to be concluded on the 14th of next month.

The statement further enjoins all stakeholders and interest groups to take note of this development and act accordingly towards a smooth, free, fair and credible local government council elections in Bayelsa State and concludes that the adjustments do not have any retroactive effects and do not also in any way invalidate the statutory provisions in the Guidelines for the 2019 elections.
