Bayelsa Guber: INEC to Shift Bayelsa Election date from November 2nd

…..Says We will consider your proposal to shift the Nov-2 Guber Election, INEC replies Bayelsa Govt.

The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mamhood Yakubu has said that the commission will look into the proposal from the Bayelsa State Government that the gubernatorial election scheduled to hold Nov-2 be shifted to a new date.

Mamhood made this known after a meeting with Bayelsa State political stakeholders at Abuja this afternoon.

Recall that upon the release of time table for Bayelsa and Kogi States gubernatorial Elections by INEC for Nov-2, the Bayelsa State Government has formally written to INEC, requesting that the Bayelsa Election be shifted to a new date. 

Reason that, Nov-2 is Bayelsa State annual Thanksgiving day which the state has observed consistently from 2012.

However, the commission was not specific on how soon it will respond to the proposal.
