
Two Policemen were shot dead along the Otuogidi community of Ogbia Local Government Area of the State and their riffle carted away by unknown gunmen suspected to be hoodlums hired to search for guns ahead of the November 16th Governorship election in the state causing apprehension among residents of the state.
The killing of the two policemen coincided with the arrival of batches from the 32,000 policemen led by 15 Commissioners of Police, three Assistant Inspectors General (AIG) of Police and the Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIG) at the State headquarters of Police Command for onward deployment to every part of the state.
Among the Commissioners of Police deployed to the State include Garba Baba Umar, Sanusi Buba, Bello Makwashi, Usman Sule Gomina, Mohammed Gimba, Bashir Makama, Habu Sani and Danladi Bitrus Lalas.
Also among the list of Police Commissioners are Omololu Bishi, Joseph Mukan. Also deployed are Acting Police Commissioner Odumosu Olusegun and others.
NAIJA LIVE TV gathered that the attack on the policemen occurred in the early hours of Yesterday at a check point close to the Bayelsa State College of Health Technology located in Ogbia.
The attack left one of the policeman dead on the spot while the second policeman died at the hospital. Their rifles were reportedly carted away.
However, the DIG of Police on Bayelsa Election, Anthony Ogbizi , assured the people of the State of their safety and promised that the security personnel deployed to the state will ensure that there is a level playing ground for the INEC to conduct a free, fair and credible election comes November 16th.
Also speaking, Police Commissioner, Omololu Shamusideen Bishi told newsmen that said the Officers and men have been deployed from the Nigerian Police headquarters to interact with the Divisional Police Officers in the State, the rank and file in the state command and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), calling on the media to assist in the area of balanced and credible coverage of the Governorship poll.
He called on the people to come out emmasse to cast their votes for whichever candidate of their choice in the Saturday election and go home peaceful to wait for the outcome of the poll,” anybody that win the election is a son of the soil and not a stranger. There is no need for anyone to fight because no office is worth the blood of the people.”
Ex-Militant leader raise alarm over secret meeting between Dickson and Okiro over alleged hire of fake police
Frontline Former Militant leader in Bayelsa, Comrade Eris Paul known along the creeks as Gen. Ogunboss has yesterday raised an alarm over a secret meeting between the State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson and former Inspector-General of Police, Mike Okiro on alleged plot to hire fake policemen and compromise the November 16 Governorship election in the state.
According to Ogunboss, the secret meeting between Okiro and Gov. Dickson was held on Saturday till early hours of Sunday at the State Government House to discuss issues of alleged procurement of special policemen to serve as security personnel for the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Sagbama, Yenagoa, Nembe & Brass local government areas of the state.
Ogunboss, who is a chieftain of the APC, alleged that the former Inspector General of Police came into the state with three brand new Toyota Hilux vans loaded with Mobile Pol icemen from Mopol 19 barrack in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
According to him, ‘The Hilux in the middle were caring items covered with an ornamental clothes such as canopy. An inside source I formed us that something was stinking & there was need for the National Party Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, the Inspector General of Police, the Department of State Security (DSS) and the National Security Adviser (NSA) to quickly intervene’ .
Ogunboss also alleged that the former IG, Mike Okiro also reportedly assured Gov. Sariake Dickson not to panic, that he’ll help provide him his own security men at Sagbama, Yenagoa, Nembe & Brass.
‘Believe me, the former IG Mike Okiro was my landlord in Abuja, but I packed out of his house when I noticed his closeness with Dickson who had been after my life for the past 7 years’.
‘We are calling on the APC at the National level to quickly intervene, because something is stinking & the urgent need to do something immediately before things get out of hand. I perceived something smelly, that smell is smelly, Mike Okiro is visiting Henry Dickson few days to election with 3 brand new Toyota Hilux, loaded with Mopol 19 from Port Harcourt & one covered with an ornamental cloth such like canopy, it is headache not to believe that something was stinking.’
‘To Sariake Dickson, this election is worth the life of every Bayelsans who is against him & we must not sleep at every possible information because the governor is an enemy of good democracy that is the only thing about very callous people.’
