Local Government Council Chairmen in Bayelsa State have yesterday accused the Federal Government of plotting to remove the State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson through alleged breach of security and declaration of State of Emergency.
The Local Government Chairmen under the aegis of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) said the alleged plot by the Federal Government as revealed by security network of the State is being carried out with the assistance of some Ex-Militants leaders from the State.
Hon. Bello Bina, who is the Publicity Secretary of ALGON and the Chairman of the Brass Local Government Council, while confirming the development during a call on him by the Management of the State Station of the Daar Communications led by Mrs. Dappa Pakariayi, said though the present administration of the State is ready to confront and thwart such plot, the security agencies should call to order those involved in the plot to unseat the state governor through the back door.
According to Hon. Bello Bina, “Some people want to blackmail the Bayelsa State Government with the claim that the Supreme Court Judgment will be reversed and they will throw the State into crisis. We know all these claims and rumors being peddled. It can never be actualized in Bayelsa. I want to assure the people of the State that all is well. For the information of those plotting, the people of the State are behind Governor Seriake Dickson and they are always steadfast.”
“And we all know that if we organize the Governorship election a million times, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will take the day. We hear all their plans and we can confirm that some ex-militant leaders are being used to launch a re-group and instigate violence in the state in order to allow the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency.”
“We, as a Government, will not allow it. The security agents should also rise to the occasion and arrest those involve in the evil plot. It is high time we come out and arrest these people to come and explain what the State has done to deserve their unrelenting plan to destroy and destabilize it. What are they going to benefit? The state has been peaceful and the State Governor is doing well. Everything is going smoothly and some groups of people are plotting to destroy it. ’
“I want these young men involved in the plot to be apprehended. These are the same people embezzling state fund they cannot account for. They cannot come to term with the fact that state governance has moved from the beer parlor business they are used to. The state would have been in a very big mess if not for the prudent management of resources by the State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson.”
“This Governor has come to stabilize the economy of Bayelsa State. Unlike some other state, Bayelsa would not have been able to pay salary. But the Governor still has the pain for Bayelsa people and has ensured that salaries are paid. Even, if it is 50 per cent. Some states have not paid salary for close to a year. But those people in Abuja are busy plotting and planning coup. Am using this platform to warn them to abort it. We won’t take such plot.
