Former Security Adviser to the Bayelsa State Government, Chief Perekeme Kpodoh has commended the State Governor, Senator Douye Diri for a good job done in the last 14 months of his administration in the areas of infrastructural development, internal road rehabilitation, financial prudence, improved Labour and pension welfare and the beautification of the state capital.

Kpodoh said the gradual development stride is turning Yenagoa, the Bayelsa capital, from the the forest capital status it was tagged due to poor development to modern capital city.

According to Chief Kpodoh, inspite of the poor finances being experienced by states in the Federation including Bayelsa, the Governor Douye Diri administration have embarked on infrastructural projects that has shown that with the support of the people of the state, Bayelsa will emerge the destination of businesses and investments in no distant future.

Chief Perekeme Kpodoh, who is a fierce critics of successive administrations in the state, in a statement sent to NAIJA LIVE TV, said his review of the 14 months in office of Governor Douye Diri has shown him that a child that will know how to dance well will be known from his footsteps,” Gov. Douye Diri has shown that he will succeed and change the status of the state capital from forest capital to a real capital. He has lit the capital with street light and rehabilitated popular streets hitherto abandoned by past administrations.”

He also noted that the major projects such as the Nembe unity bridge, the Bayelsa media complex, Ekeki, Igbogene /Tombia Road and Yenagoa /Oporoma Road projects are systematic sited to accommodate interest and expand the scope of development in the state,” I believe these projects are largely embarked upon to align the state with the league of cities with world class infrastructures thus making Bayelsa to be reckon with other developed states”

He also commended the decision of the Douye Diri administration to follow through some uncompleted projects of the last administration including the final license handed the state to operate the Bayelsa International airport, “instead of playing dirty politics, he embarked on facts and convinced the FAAN of the need for the final nod and it was given. Many stakeholders including traditional rulers, elders and political actors feel comfortable around this administration because the Governor respect people and consult wisely.”

“Pensioners, Labour leaders, workers and residents are thankful that the peace and security desired in the state has returned with people sleeping with both eyes closed. Among all the states of the Federation, Bayelsa should be considered the most peaceful and secured due to the pragmatic relationship between the Government and the Governed.”

On the ongoing demolition exercise of illegal markets and structures as part of the State Capital beautification target, Chief Perekeme Kpodoh called on the people of the state to allow for the Gov. Douye Diri administration to complete his vision for Tombia/Etegwe area and many others, “we should support him and allow him turn the state capital to a true mini-dubai instead of a forest capital.”
