The newly inaugurated Speaker of the Bayelsa state House of Assembly, Rtd Hon. Tonye Emmanuel Isenah, has promised to work harmoniously with all members of the house including oppositions, noting that the only way to move Bayelsa forward is through collaboration.
The speaker, who is the member representing Kolokuma/Opokuma constituency 1, pleaded with members not to judge him like the cover of a book but read the content indept and carefully, adding that he will not abuse the privilege giving to him as speaker.
Isenah, stated this while addressing principal officers, party stakeholders, and other members during the inauguration of members elect at the Assembly complex, Thursday in Yenagoa.
The speaker, who was the immediate chief whip of the house, also urged members to continue the good working relationship with the executive, adding that the uncommon development witness in the state is the product of the collaboration with the current administration.
He also commended the members and the party leadership of finding him worthy of leading the house as the speaker, adding that though they were all elected in the same capacity but a leader has emerge.
“I want to appreciate everyone of you for finding me worthy to become the speaker, we were all elected in the same capacity but we now have a leader. We have to work together to support the executive to ensuring that we take development to the dreams of our founding father”
As speaker we’ll work assiduously and in harmony for the current government to finish strong on the promises made to Bayelsans. I want to thank all stakeholders for the opportunity to serve.
According to the new Chief Whip, Hon. Micheal Ogbere, the 6th Assembly will work together for a common goal, adding that they are all there to deliver on what is expected of them all.
Ogbere, said “We are ready to work with the speaker with our experiences, though they might be issues in the house, we know what to do to achieve results with our leadership”
“My simple message to my people is that I love them and will always represent their interest in the house, the trust repose on me will never be betrayed. Most of my promises to them have been fulfilled in my first tenure and now which is my second tenure I will consolidate on them”
I dredged and supply sand to one of the communities in my constituency, canalised roads to link several communities, I have done over seventy kilometers roads, and above all human development have been my priority.
