Two Aides of the Bayelsa Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, Hon. Godswill Ziriki and Hon. Adolphus Ofongo yesterday escaped death following the Armed invasion and destruption of a stakeholder meeting organised by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for House of Assembly aspirants in Southern Ijaw Local Government Council Area of the State.
The meeting, which was convened by the Acting Chairman of the Southern Ijaw Local Government Council, Hon. Nigeria Kia and held at the Latik Hotel along the INEC road, lasted for over an hour before thugs alleged to be loyal to the State Assembly Member representing Constituency 3,Hon. Daniel Igali disrupted the gathering by throwing Chairs and threatening to kill some persons.
According to some PDP members that attended the meeting, claimed the targets of the thugs werepl Dr. Godswill Ziriki and Hon. Adolphus Ofongo, who are the Special Adviser on Tertiary Education and the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission respectively.
Report Showed that though the meeting was convened to interact with over 14 State Assembly aspirants for the seat of constituency 3, the critism by some aspirants against the planned Return of Hon Daniel Igali led to the violent action of the thugs.
Hon. Ziriki was reported to have questioned the decision of Hon. Daniel Igali to seek another term in the State House of Assembly.
It was gathered that many of those who attended the meeting gathered and provided protection for Ziriki and ofongo to avoid being beating by the Armed thugs.

An aide to the accused State Assembly member, Daniel Igali, who pleaded anonymity, denies the allegation levelled against his boss, “it is not true that the Assembly member sponsored the destruption. He has delivered on the mandate and the people of his constituency loved him to come back. ” he Stated
