ADVERT RATE

The Association of Niger Delta Development Commission Contractors has shut down the commission’s headquarters along Moscow road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to reports, the contractors shut down activities at the Commission, over unpaid contract monies for 10 years and the delay by the Federal Government to inaugurate a substantive board.

The angry contractors filled the NDDC building with their canopies, chairs, cars, and placards.

They said the failure of the government to inaugurate a board for the commission has hindered its smooth operation.

They also said their contract monies have not been paid, despite executing most of the projects.

According to Elan Hub, the contractors stated that the protest will continue until their demands were met.

Chairman of the association Joe Adia in a statement said they are owed about N2 trillion, adding that there must be an end to the evil.

“The point is that there must be an end to this evil. They owe us over N2 trillion for 10 years. We are saying that today will be the last time the NDDC will keep short-changing the destinies of contractors in the commission,” he said.
