Anambra: APGA Denies Assassination Attempt On Soludo

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has denied reports that the convoy of Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State was attacked by gunmen.

NaijaliveTv reports that the National Coordinator of APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, made this known while addressing reporters in Awka on Monday.

Several reports emerged over the weekend that the governor narrowly escaped death when some unknown gunmen invaded his country home, Isuofia community on Friday night.

According to Obigwe, the assassination attempt report was an orchestrated plot by “mischief makers” to instill fear in the minds of the people “just as it is condemnable”.

He confirmed that there was indeed an attack on the community, adding the gunmen did that to frighten the residents of Isuofia and to blackmail the governor.

Obigiwe maintained that the governor would not yield to the “evil wishes” of the criminal elements who want to hold the state spellbound.

He, however, confirmed that the governor was not involved in any attack in the community and was not near the area some criminals stormed.

The APGA chieftain stated that the state government was determined to chase the criminals out of the state.

“There was nothing like an attack on the governor. What happened was that criminal elements currently suffocating under the heat of the governor’s merciless onslaught against them decided to launch a hit and run attack at Isuofia.

“They did that to frighten the residents of Isuofia and to see if Soludo will back out of his decision to end the senseless every Monday sit-at-home in Anambra.

“Soludo’s convoy was not attacked at all. So I can’t tell how they got the news of Soludo’s escape from an assassination attempt in Anambra.

“With Soludo’s level of preparation, criminals cannot withstand the presence of his convoy in any environment in the state. He is fully prepared, they are the ones to run from him and not the other way round as was reported.

“Soludo was not even at Isuofia when the ugly shooting incident occurred as was reported that he was at Isuofia and escaped being assassinated.”

Meanwhile, the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, on Sunday lamented over the killing of innocent citizens, security operatives and destruction of government properties in the state.

Uzodinma while speaking at St. Rose of Lima Parish, Ozuh Omuma, Oru East Local Government Area of the State called on the congregation to join him in praying to end the killings in the state as Christians celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

According to the Imo State Governor, killings in Orlu are being sponsored by people he described as “wicked, unrepentant politicians”.
