The Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), General Barry Indiomu (rtd), has come under fire as calls for his sack, probe and persecution intensifies due to inappropriate handling of the scheme under his watch.

One of the recent fresh calls for Ndiomu’s arrest is his alleged leakage of confidential government documents which many experts and analysts has deemed a deliberate, obvious move by the PAP boss to scuttle the Sylva/Maciver ticket in favour of Douye Diri, his kinsman, which had been overwhelmingly rejected by many.

A foremost pressure group and pro-peace advocacy outfit known as “The Niger Delta Security Volunteers” has expressed disappointment over Ndiomu’s alleged leakage of confidential government security documents.

Chairman of the the group, Chief Samuel Mpigi James, while Speaking to the Press on Monday, said ”I do not care about Ndiomu’s connection with the PDP which we all know, after all, his sister, Hon Ebizi Ndiomu Brown, is a serving member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly with a PDP ticket which we hear he procured.

”Personally, and as a group whose primary tenet is the peace of the Niger Delta region, our chief concern is the fact he leaked confidential government documents to the Press. It is unheard of and we apologize to the entire country that our own son can be such a terrible ambassador.

”We hereby call for his sack, probe and possible prosecution because the act of leaking Federal Government confidential documents not only contravenes Public Service Rules but it falls short on moral and ethical grounds,” he said.

The group further promised to write letters to the President, Chief of Army Staff, the Inspector General of Police, the Director of the Department of State Security as well as the Leadership of the National Assembly.

Also, the “Niger Delta Civil Servants Congress” has described as appalling, the reported acts of unfairness by the Presidential Amnesty Boss, Major General Barry Ndiomu, against members of staff of the Program’s office.

Speaking during the weekend in Port Harcourt, the convener of the group, Architect Wisdom Bonfieme, berated the the pains inflicted on workers in the office and the seizure of phones of workers, all in a bid to “support his party the People’s Democratic Party and it’s Governorship Candidate in the forth coming Bayelsa guber.”

Calling on Ndiomu to stop intimidating Nigerian workers with soldiers, Architect Wisdom Bonfieme said General Indiomu should offer unreserved apology as they will commence legal process to seek justice through the Labour Unions.

He said “There are speculations of civil servants phones being seized and confiscated, some reports suggests even greater pains for the workers after a confidential security document was said to have been leaked.

”To give some meat to the story we have a painful circular with us which suggests that Ndiomu actually stopped members of staff from using their phones in the Program’s premises.

”Some staff which spoke with us on grounds of anonymity has expressed sadness at the development and how the environment is being run high handedly and that they work in an hostile environment.

”We state that Ndiomu should behave as a leader and accept the responsibility, he shouldn’t push his shortcomings to his innocent staff who just wants to serve our fatherland.

”We read reports of groups alleging Ndiomu leaked the documents to support his party the People’s Democratic Party and it’s Governorship Candidate in the forth coming Bayelsa guber. But that is not our concern, our concern is for Ndiomu to accept his lapse and stop intimidating Nigerian workers with soldiers.

”We call on Ndiomu to offer an unreserved apology to Nigerian Workers, especially it’s civil Service lest we write to the Labour Unions to seek justice,” he added.
