After 22 days in detention, the Nigerian Army released the traditional ruler of the Okuama community in Delta State, HRM Clement Ikolo.

NAIJA LIVE TV had reported that in the wake of the killing of 17 military personnel in the community on March 14, 2024, the Defence Headquarters declared the monarch alongside seven others wanted for alleged involvement in the crime.

Ikoli later surrendered himself to the Nigerian Police in Delta state and was flown to Abuja by the military for further questioning.

NAIJA LIVE TV had reported that the monarch before turning himself in to police on March 28, spoke to Galaxy TV, saying he was shocked to see his name among the list of persons declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters.

He said, “It is a shock to me because I have no hands in such things. I don’t believe in anything that has got to do with truncating the lives of human beings.

“I am not in any way shape or form connected to this. Let it be stated clearly here that I haven’t been able to access the kingdom even as a monarch till date.”

The monarch said he received his staff of office on November 16, 2023.

However, on Friday, after 22 days in the military detention facility in Abuja, he was released to Senator Ede Dafianone who stood as a surety.
