A comedian and on-air personality, Peter Avoseh, aka Olu-Omopeteru Oluwacomedy, has said that acting as Jesus Christ in skits gave his career a huge boost.

Recalling the early days of his career, he told Sunday Scoop, “It was not an easy ride when I was starting, because there was no one to support me financially. I only had God and members of my church who believed in me and my talent. My resilience made me to keep on pushing on, and I have been opportune to perform at the Celestial Church of Christ’s most recognised programme— Imeko Yearly Convocation. I also performed at Fresh FM’s Children’s Day programme, which was attended by top artistes and comedians. I have also performed at Gbenga Adeyinka’s Laffmatazz comedy event.

“However, what has stood me out from other comedians is the character of Jesus Christ I depict. Though it is meant to entertain people, I also use it to win souls.”

Asked what makes a good comedian, Olu-Omopeteru said, “A good comedian must possess the ability to read the crowd and carry the audience along. They should also know how to leave the stage when the ovation is loudest.”

The comedian, who is planning to embark on a tour of the United Kingdom, noted that he would be thrilling fans with his unique style of comedy, as well as performing at one of the shows of popular fuji singer, Wasiu Alabi, aka Pasuma.
