The Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson yesterday mocked the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Former Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva over the rising cases of defection into the fold of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, predicting that the APC in Bayelsa will soon wind up.
Governor Seriake Dickson was speaking on Friday night during a State wide Media Chat over the recent defection of chieftains of APC led by the Former NDDC Boss, Ndutimi Alaibe, the Former Secetary to Government and State Agent of APC during the 2016 Governorahip poll, Chief Gideon Ekeowe, the Former APC Governorship Campaign Director(Media and Publicity,),Chief Nathan Egba and one-time State Chairman of PDP, Chief Rufus Abadi popularly known as Barbaru.
Governor Dickson, who refused to mention the APC as a party, labbelled them as “the other party”, noted that the recent Gail of defection witnessed was part of the mandate he gave to the political machihnery of the PDP to ensure that the APC is shut down in the state before the 2019 general elections.
According to Gov. Dickson, “we are going to wind up the other party (APC).That other party whose politics is about violence and killings. That other party whose leaders are not interested in the development of our people and the State..That other party that does not respect and regard for those that have worked hard for them. ”
“That other party that makes appointment based on Man-Know-Man and percentage of votes. That other party that has never worked for the common good of the people of Bayelsa. We are going to wind it upon the State.”
Gov. Dickson commended the PDP leadership and the political desk of his administration, I don’t want to mention the names of the two people that will be remaining in the party because they have become tenaterum to the people of the State. Only few good people are remaining in the party.”
“the only people remains are those that practice the politics of cultism and killings. Those who do not know that we are this game of politics to give service to the people. We are not in this destroy. We are thebgame to build. ”
Gov. Dickson also explained that he agreed to personally receive the APC defectors back to the PDP because of his respect for their persons, “the reason is that we have to treat ourselves with respect and dignity. I have the one they confronted during the Governorship election. ”
“I am the only one that has ever defeated the ruling party at the centre with their Federal might. They fought me very hard with support from Federal might. With God and the people we won. You can see what they did in other states with inconclusive and rerun elections.But I defeated them despite all they did. ”
“After all, with tribunal and shifting the Tribunal to Abuja, the Appeal Court and Supreme Court, we won. We have no reason to fight in the game. People in opposition are not our enemies. Am using Bayelsa example to politicians at the National level to treat opposition with love and respect.”
Gov. Dickson also announced that those who defected would be received at a mega rally slated for Tuesday next week,”the other party have no chance of winning any seat during the State and National Assemblies election.”
