The rise in activities of rape, child abuse, cultism, harmful widowhood practices topped the focus of the meeting, as women leaders gathered to discuss these burning issues and chatted a way out for a violence free society.

The women drawn from selected communities across the eight Local Government Areas of the State also highlighted the challenges of flooding, erosion and other environmental impacts as it affects their daily livelihood.

Executive Director of FACE Initiative, Mr. Inatimi Odio and other keynote Speakers at the event pointed out that for women to be liberated and to curb violence against, there should be a progressive increase in empowerment, training and meaningful engagement.

After deliberations, participants issued a communiqué calling on every woman in the State to take advocacy to their husbands, so as to build love and bonding between them. This they said would encourage the man to carry them along both at the home front and outside.

The communique also advocated for proper representation of women during crude oil pollution meetings and negotiation because women suffer more in polluted environments.

On ways to curb pipeline vandalism and youth restiveness, participants called for more youth empowerment schemes from government and companies, and stressed the need for mothers to take responsibility for the training of their children, so they can become blessing rather than curse to society.
