As highly revered Traditional High Priests (Agbadagbas), enthusiasts, and adherents of Ijaw traditional values and culture from Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Ondo states converged at Oporoza in Gbaramatu Kingdom to celebrate the Annual Gbaraun Egbesu festival that was concluded with the Amasiemokumo event, venerable sons and daughters of Ijaw land who uphold the tradition and cultural values of Ijaw people with an insight to it’s spiritual importance were in attendance to receive divine blessings.

His Excellency (Chief) Timipre Sylva, the gubernatorial candidate under platform of APC in the forthcoming guber elections in Bayelsa State who amongst other things, is a traditional title holder of the Gbaramatu Kingdom that understands the spiritual significance of such gathering, at the hallowed palace of the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom sitted with all the Agadagbas of Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Ondo pay obeisance to our revered Spiritual Fathers in Council to show solemn respect, honor and reverence.

As unbiased observers of events, our attention has been drawn to the disappointingly shameful attitude of some shallow and misguided government paid data men who funnily misconstrued this gesture of humility and sense of awareness displayed by the Opuabadi, as placing our respected Traditional Rulers within the Bayelsa state to play second fiddle role.

This narrative is not only false and misleading, but it is also the cheapest method of propaganda used by a drowning administration to attract the attention of the unsuspecting public, geared towards inciting our traditional institutions against each other and make mockery of them.

Simply, it shows the level of indifference in the hearts of those managing the affairs of government in Creek Haven.

While we have not called to question the visible absence of the only Ijaw Governor in Niger Delta at such a historic festival, it is quite disappointing to see the level of levity attached to our traditional institutions that binds us together as a people all in a bid to score non-existent political points.

It is excusable for parochial minds to think that Chief Sylva’s visit to Oporoza was a political consultation but any one who knows the story of the Pool of Bethesda that was stirred only at specific seasons by the Angel(s) of God in the bible, will understand that the Opuabadi’s presence as all the Peres/Agadagbas ( from Bayelsa, Edo, Delta and Ondo) gathered in Gbaramatu Kingdom, was symbolic, very timely, unique and prophetic.

A leader/king who understands the dynamics of power and leadership must know time marking events that shape history.

To us, congratulations are in place for His Excellency (Chief) Timipre Sylva for the prophetic instinct.

Sir, indeed, your footsteps were ordered by the Lord Almighty.
