The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has called on the general public to disregard any news that its national president, Igbifa Peter Timothy has been arrested in Abuja by the Department of State Service (DSS).

Ijaw Youth Council President, Peter Igbifa in
a press statement signed by the media assistant to Igbifa Peter, Paul Ebikeseye described the information as “frivolous and from the pit of hell”.

The statement stated that:

“The news trending on social media about the arrest of the Commander-In-Chief of the Ijaw youths and leader of all Ijaw Youths in the Niger Delta region, Dcn. Comr. Peter Timothy Igbifa by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja is frivolous and from the pit of hell.”

He therefore called on the general public to disregard the information, adding that it was doctored by few anti-Ijaws and Niger Deltans that do not want a substantive board to be inaugurated for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Speaking further, Igbifa called on the IOCs to peacefully commence the evacuation of their personnel, materials and equipment within the Niger Delta region and shutdown their flow stations, platforms and gas plants.

Also, the East-West road will be blocked starting from the aforementioned date. Commuters are advised to change routes/diversion of traffic from the East-West road.
