Abductors of a popular pastor in Akwa Ibom State, Apostle John Okoriko, are demanding N100million ransom before he could be released from their captivity.
Okoriko, who is the Founder and President of Solid Rock Kingdom Church, was reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday night at his church premises in Ibekwe Akpan Nya in Mkpat Enin local government area.
An eyewitness said the hoodlums jumped through the fence and forced their way into the cleric’s living room.
According to the source, the gunmen opened fire indiscriminately to scare away people and dragged the octogenarian preacher into the nearby bush.
The source said the police were immediately contacted while some youths joined to comb the bush to search for the pastor.
Confirming the incident, Akwa Ibom Police spokesman, SP Odiko Macdon, said the abduction occurred on Tuesday around 5 pm at the cleric’s residence in Mkpat Enin.
“We have received the report and the CP has ordered for an investigation to commence. As I speak, a lot has been done already, I want to believe that we will get to the root of it in no distance time,” he said.
