Former President Goodluck Jonathan, People Democratic Party (PDP), National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Comr. Adams Oshiomhole, Presidential candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and other prominent Nigerians have expressed sadness over the death of President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

The presidency has in a press release signed by Femi Adesina on Saturday morning confirmed the passing away of Abba Kyari, who tested positive for coronavirus few weeks ago. The statement said Abba Kyari died of COVID-19 on Friday.

Following the ugly development, former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has sent his condolences to President Muhammadu Buhari and sympathized with the family of Kyari.

He said: “I condole with H.E Muhammadu Buhari, the Kyari family & all sympathisers on the demise of Mallam Abba Kyari who until his death was the Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria. May Allah grant him Al Jannah Firdaus & strengthen his family & friends during this moment of grief.”

On his part, the APC National Chairman, who appeared pained over the death of Kyari stated, “It’s really heart breaking hearing of the death of President Buhari Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari. May his soul Rest In Peace.”

Former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the PDP in 2019 also tweeted in condolence, “I am saddened by the death of Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari. May Allah SWT comfort his family, forgive his sins and grant him AlJannah Firdaus. Ameen.”

Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, President of the Nigerian Senate has also expressed grief over the passing away of Abba Kyari. He said, “Death is inevitable, it only comes at our individually appointed time. May Allah forgive the shortcomings of late Mallam Abba Kyari and grant him speedy passage to Aljannatu Firdausi.”

While recounting his last moment with the Chief of Staff, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo said, “When I chatted with him exactly on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, he assured me his health was fine and that he would faithfully take the treatments. But God always knows best. Sincere condolences to the Kyari family and the Government of Nigeria. Adieu Mallam Abba Kyari.”

Meanwhile, Femi Adesina, Presidential spokesperson has confirmed that fomer Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, a top critic of the Buhari administration, phoned the presidency to express his condolences.

Fani-Kayode has in a tweet expressed sadness over the death of Kyari, whom he described as his friend of 40 years.

“I have lost a friend of 40 years. We were at Cambridge together. We worked in my fathers law firm together. We remained close throughout right up until the end even though we disagreed politically. Abba was a good man: a man of honor & a loyal friend. May his soul rest in peace,” he said

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama also expresses shock of the demise of Abba Kyari. “In deep shock and sorrow at the passing of Abba Kyari, a best friend and brother. Chief of Staff to President Buhari. A true gem and great Nigerian patriot. Irreplaceable!,” he posted on Twitter.

Also, some former Senators have also condoled with the President and family of late Kyari.

Senator Shehu Sani, an ardent critic of the Buhari government stated, “The President has lost a trusted & loyal friend. A man who took the bullets of his master with smiles, calmness & silence. We knew his cap & his colors but never his mind or his own side of his story. He will be missed as a Punchman or a punch bag.”

Similarly, Senator Ben Murry-Bruce also tweeted in condolence, “I am saddened by the news of the death of Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari. My sincere condolences to the family and loved ones, and also President Buhari. May his soul rest in peace.”

Founder of the Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleiman was not also left out.

He said, “Dr lizzy and I wish to commiserate with the family and friends of Abba kyari on his demise. He was an epitome of loyalty to his boss… God give you the fortitude to bear the loss. We wish you all well.”

These are coming as many Nigerians, who may not really know Abba Kyari accept for the negative reports about him on the media, flooded the social media rejoicing over the death of the Chief of Staff who died at about 80 years.

…PDP Mourns Abba Kyari, Condoles Families of COVID-19 Victims

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) describes the death of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, as depressing and saddening.

The PDP comforts President Muhammadu Buhari, the Kyari family, the government and people of Borno state and the nation at large for this painful loss and prays that the Almighty Allah grants Mallam Abba Kyari eternal rest.

Similarly, the PDP commiserates with families of all the victims of COVID-19 pandemic and prays for the speedy recovery of the sick who are receiving treatment in various isolation centers.
