The immediate past speaker and a leading senatorial aspirant of the People Democratic Party PDP who is also the majority leader of Bayelsa state house of Assembly Rt. Hon. Monday Obolo has joined the number of aspirants who have picked the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja to contest for Bayelsa Central Senatorial bye election.

The former speaker opted to join the contest for the vacant Senatorial seat following overwhelming endorsements and calls on him by critical stakeholders to fill the vacant Senatorial seat.

The stakeholders who endorsed him cut across all the segments of the society such as women/youth groups, top political leaders, traditional rulers, students groups and others.

Rt. Hon. Monday Obolo is the immediate past speaker of the Bayelsa state house of assembly and the current majority leader.

Speaking with news men after he picked the form, he described his aspiration as God’s own agenda and an idea whose time has come and encouraged his supporters across the 3 local government areas of the central Senatorial district in the state to double their efforts in galvanizing more supports for his victory at the primary election.

Rt. Hon. Monday Obolo who was full of optimism used the occasion to call on Bayelsa Central Senatorial people to rally round him to realise his aspiration, stated that “ Central Senatorial district is about to make another decision on who lead the people and administers the qualitative leadership and true representative.

His words thus;

“Without mincing words, our senatorial is in dire need of direction and home-grown leadership. “I use this opportunity to call on our youths, women and all indigenes and residents of the Central Senatorial District to rally round my aspiration and give me the needed support as we look forward to clinching the sole ticket of the PDP in the fast-approaching Senatorial primary”

recalled that upon the 13th of February, 2020 victory of the duo of Sen. Douye Diri and Lawrence Ewrudjakpo of the Peoples Democratic Party as Governor and Deputy governor of Bayelsa State at the Supreme Court, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had declared the two Senate seats Vancant necessitating the Electoral Commission to begin preparations for a bye election to fill the above seats.
