Edo 2020: Delta PDP Asks Okowa To Withdraw Support For Obaseki

The PDP Youths Vanguard in Delta State has kicked against supporting embattled Governor Godwin Obaseki of neighbouring Edo state in his second term election and called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to withdraw any assistance in solidarity with Dr. James Ibori, whose property was seized by the governor in Benin City.

The group said it frown at the manner Governor Obaseki under the influence of power and impunity, confiscated the property of their former governor, which was purchased and paid for legally about 13 years ago.

Describing the action of Governor Obaseki as totally abuse of power, the group said they knew a day would come like this when Governor Obaseki will be made to pay for his wicked acts.

According to a press statement by the PDP Youth Vanguard in Asaba, the action was despicable and capable of causing bad blood between the two brothers; Delta and Edo states.

“When it was convenient for Governor Obaseki, he seized the property of our leader Governor James Ibori without reason and not minding tomorrow. The tomorrow has come today. As a Governor, such an act was lawless.”

“We hereby warn our governor, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to distance himself from Governor Obaseki and withdraw his support for him as he faces the battle in his home state. He cannot run to this house, which he set ablaze during peacetime.”

“Governor Obaseki is not a good brother but we know that a good friend is better than a bad brother.”

“The group further stated that former Governor Ibori bought the house in 2006 during the administration of Chief Lucky Igbinedion and the house has remained one of his dearest family homes because Benin city have always been home to most Deltans.”

The group further lamented that Governor Obaseki could not give any reason for seizing the property other than because Ibori was in opposition party. Today he is in the same party with him. That action amounts to wickedness and unexplainable hatred to your fellow brother and citizen in the same country.

“If Obaseki can do such a thing to Chief Ibori, we imagine what he is capable of doing to the ordinary people in his state especially when he gets a second term,” they querried.
