A Chieftain and the immediate past publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Rivers State Chapter, Chris Finebone, says the fight against the deadly COVID-19 in the State, should have a human face.

He gave the advise during a chat with journalists, as measures taken by the State Government to curb the spread of coronavirus in the state, present more negative tendencies.

Finebone expressed dismay at the decision by the state Governor, Nyesom Wike, to impose curfew in parts of the state and the reported cases of human rights violation and intimidation by some law enforcement agents. He said while Lagos State has set up alternative food markets in the neighborhood, “there is no such arrangement and no part of the state is under any form of curfew. Meanwhile there is no confirmation that a single ventilator is available in the state.

‘And one is tempted to ask. Did coronavirus originate from Port Harcourt, that so much vengeance is visited on the inhabitants in this cruel manner.

” I am not sure that Wuhan and her residence saw what Port Harcourt residence are seeing right now.

“Nobody is saying that the Governor should reinvent the wheel. Any efforts to immobilise coronavirus must be supported by all. ” We all support the lockdown. However, if the government can not be innovative in going about it, then at least let them copy what is happening elsewhere wisely and correctly.

“The lockdown we see in other states have a human face to save the people and not for the people to die”, he reiterated.
